This is my second interview with author Andrew Holecek.  In our interview about his new book entitled “Dream Yoga-Illuminating Your Life Through Lucid Dreaming and the Tibetan Yogas of Sleep“, Andrew and I speak about now only how to utilize lucid dream “dream yoga” to gain insights about your true self and your personal desires.

Andres states that there are three essential ingredients for lucid dreaming (1) strong motivation or intention, (2) good dream recall, and (3) practicing the induction techniques.

So just what are the induction techniques, (1) is something called the “state check” this is a questions that you pose throughout your waking day asking yourself “Is this a dream?”  “Am I dreaming?”, this is designed to bring awareness to your state of consciousness.  (2) is something called “dreamsigns”.  This is when we become sensitized to the out-of-the-ordinary dreamlike events that occur during the day and to use these events that occur as triggers to conduct a “stage check”.  (3) Something called “prospective memory”.  This is where you are remembering to do something in the future.  It’s almost an oxymoron, because memory is associated with the past and prospective is associated with the future.  An example of this is telling yourself that every time you get a text message you’ll remember to do a state check–another way to remind yourself to check in about your state of consciousness and awareness of what is happening around you.

Andrew’s new book “Dream Yoga” is filled with great instruction on how to develop a state of lucid dreaming.  If you are interested in learning more about lucid dreaming and how to practices techniques that will trigger your nightly deep dream states with great recall then I would recommend you obtaining a copy of “Dream Yoga“.  I also think that listening to our interview will provide you with a great overview of “Dream Yoga” and Andrew is truly one of the master instructors on this topic.

In my interview with author Michael Alden, he states that most self-help program don’t have the anticipated impact on people’s lives that they expect.  The reason is that in his estimation people reach too high, then don’t achieve their goals and become disappointed.

Simply stated Michael says to just do 5% More in every area of your life and you will achieve your goals.  This technique is not new, but Michael is absolutely one-hundred percent correct– if we just complete the incremental short term goals our larger goals and vision will manifest.  Do they always manifest that we envision, no but we do  make progress toward our goals and dreams–you bet.

In my interview with this dynamic author that has reached the pinnacle of success, we discuss his challenging youth being brought up in the housing projects, having a mother as a drug addict, and loosing other members of his family to drugs.  Mike has seen it all, and as a result decided to take an alternative path, he became a lawyer then started a very successful marketing company called Blue Vase which sells millions of dollars of health related products through infomercials.

If you are on a quest to improve your batting average relative your goals in life then I would highly recommend that you read and study the techniques that Mike talks about in his new book 5% More.  If you want to learn more about Mike and his book 5% More, please click here to be directed to the book website.

I have a very good friend by the name of Michael Mc Cafferty that recently developed a new IOS application that automatically pushes out inspirational quotes to your mobile devices.  Now I must say that quote apps are nothing new–but To Be Wise is a very unique application.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing author William Keepin.  His  book entitled “Belonging to God, Science, Spirituality and a Universal Path of Divine Love” addresses the religious disparities with the intent of finding a common ground between all religions which is that of divine love.

In our lively interview together Will explains that “There is a profound need today for people to understand how the religious traditions relate to one another, what they have in common, and how their remarkable difference are dwarfed by their even more remarkable common ground. In Wills book he explores divine love in Christianity, Islam and Hinduism as exemplified through the scriptures and writing of leading mystics from these traditions–that presents a glorious universal path of love that is illuminated equally by modern science and ancient wisdom.

It is very serendipitous that the publisher sent me a book titled “Skinny Liver“.  I was recently diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease also referred to as (NAFLD).  I obviously was really interested in the topic and what author Kristin Kirkpatrick had to say about the symptoms, treatment and nutrition programs to combat the disease.

What is ironic is that NAFLD’s symptoms are not something that you usually feel.  As Kristin stated the disease is the silent epidemic.  Over 30% of the American population have the disease and many probably don’t even know they have NAFLD.   It can be detected through a liver blood panel where they measure AST/ALT.  Both of these are great indicators of types of liver disease or damage.

Here are just a few factoids about your liver: 1) 96% water. 2) It is the one of the largest organs. 3) It produces bile for digestion 4) It helps you resist infections. 5) It stores and releases glucose. 5) It produces cholesterol. 6) It is responsible for regular blood clotting. 7) It clears the blood of drugs.  Needless to say it is one of the most important organs in our body.

In my interview with Kristin we discuss in depth the NAFLD disease, what causes it and how to change your diet and exercise program to help in reversing the disease.  NAFLD has connections to other diseases as well such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and many others.  I highly recommend that you listen to our interview and listen to Kristin about how to treat and hopefully reverse the disease.

We are all aware of the aging baby boomer population–thousands are turning 65 every day, and the numbers of the aging is not going to diminish.  The sad statistic is that a hugh portion of this population has the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.  People’s cognitive abilities are diminishing at alarming rates, and it has been proven that this can be reversed by our diet.

In my interview with nutritionist Maggie Moon and the author of a new book entitled ” The Mind Diet” we discuss the food to eat and the foods to avoid to help prevent from early onset dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. You will not be surprised to learn that a good portion of the diet is green leafy vegetables and fruits and nuts.   That is not to say you can not eat fish, chicken and meat but in much smaller portions that the American diet consumes this protein today.

The Mind Diet has been proven to reduce hypertension and heart disease as well.   During our interview Maggie discussed the correct food groups and the foods to avoid.  We also get into the menus and recipes that she recommends.

I hope you enjoy this wonderful interview with an expert in the Mind Diet.

As they say you are what you eat, and you really want to pay attention to what Maggie has to say about the Mind Diet.

Being true to yourself can be challenging.  It takes belief in oneself, and a commitment to working on continually improving our perspective and eliminated the negative self talk.

In his new book “The Overwhelmed Brain” author Paul Colaianni guides the reader through a series of stories and exercises that are designed to to stop our self-sabotaging behaviors and replace them with self compassion.  Paul states that “honoring others over yourself is like dishonoring yourself”.   Compassion starts on the inside, and when you have enough of it for yourself, only then can you spread it out into the world for others.

The Overwhelmed Brain” is about ways to look at yourself with the benefit of improving your relationships with others.   Paul encourages us to not always think that the other person needs changing, usually it is our attitude and belief that need to be changed.  Once we alter our beliefs, we can change our feeling and emotions about the other person.  This is a formula for successful relationships.  Always look at what you can change to improve your relationship with another person that is difficult to get along with.

I hope your enjoy my interview with author Paul Colaianni as we explore being true to yourself, building positive relationships while overcoming stress and anxiety.  If you want to learn more about Paul you can visit his website by clicking here or his Facebook page by clicking here.
