I thoroughly enjoyed my interview with Maribeth Kuzmeski. She is one of the most knowledgeable authors that I know working with business marketing professionals to sharpen their connection skills.

How many of you are aware of the Enneagram? I had been exposed to the concept some time ago, but never really understood the aspects of the Enneagram until my interview with Dr. David Daniels. He is the expert on the Enneagram and how to utilize it as a tool both personally and professionally.

The Enneagram is a powerful and dynamic personality system that describes nine distinct and fundamentally different patterns of thinking, feeling and acting. “Ennea” is Greek for nine and “gram” means a figure or something written. Each of the nine patterns is based on an explicit perceptual filter and associated driving emotional energy. These patterns determine what individuals of each personality type pay attention to and how they direct their energy and behavior.
Discovering your Ennegram personal type can help you learn how to bring positive change into your life. It can help change the way you relate to yourself and others as well as give you a greater understanding of the circumstances and issues facing you. I found my interview with Srikumar Rao to be fascinating. Here is a man that has been teaching a course on Creativity and Personal Mastery at the University level. Year after year his courses are filled with students that provide accolades for the professor and the material taught in his courses.
In the introduction of his book Dr. Rao asks you to wake up from your dreamworld and make a better life for yourself. His book and his course shows you how to take the action and create a life filled with success, happiness and fulfillment.
Dr. Rao states that the first block to personal mastery–and one of the biggest–is our unquestioned mental models. He states that these are our fixed ideas of how the world works and how things should or shouldn’t be done. We accept these models so completely that we live our lives according to them. From these fixed ideas we construct our own realities. And some of us must admit that the realities we create are not so wonderful.
So just how does all of this happen? It happens through our mental chatter. You created your world unconsciously. Your world was created by your constant companion. So who is this constant companion? It is the mental chatter that you are in dialogue with on a daily basis. It is your voice of judgment that is telling you what is right, and what is wrong. One of the secrets to a successful life is to be aware of this mental chatter, and to look for the patterns in our mind chatter. Journal and attempt to replace the mental chatter with positive reinforcing messages.
Are You Ready to Succeed? is filled with wonderful exercises to help the reader overcome many of the challenges that one faces in becoming a true success. The ideas and concepts are borrowed from the ageless wisdom, but we all need to be reminded of the ways to over come the mental challenges that get in our way of success.

I have known Paul Lemberg for many years. He is definitely an out-of-the-box thinker. His concepts about how to market yourself and your business have always been cutting edge. In my interview with Paul he will explain what he refers to as “Being Unreasonable.”

It is certainly by no accident that one of the men who has influenced me the most is my first interview for our podcast and this blog. If you are not aware of Larry Wilson’s many accomplishments he is probably best known for having founded one of the largest learning organizations in this country, Wilson Learning Corp. I met Larry about 12 years ago after having read several of his books. I called him up at his ranch Pecos River in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I told him that I was starting a company called Sales Solutions Systems, and asked if he would be interested in meeting with me to discuss an opportunity that existed in the insurance industry. His answer was a resounding yes, and he welcomed me with open arms and heart when I met him at Pecos River some 12 years ago. Pecos River has since been sold, but what an incredible retreat facility it was, with ropes courses and beautiful scenery and some of the top training in leadership that this country had to offer at the time.
Since our meeting each of our lives have taken many twists and turns, but one constant is that Larry has always been there for me every step of the way to help guide me through the maze of business and personal growth.
