Podcast 478: The Hidden Spirituality of Men with Matthew Fox

I was so pleased with my first interview with Matthew Fox that I invited him back to do another interview.  As many of you are aware he is a prolific author with 28 titles to his name.  While I am unable to interview him for all of his works, I chose to focus on a book entitled ” The Hidden Spirituality of Men” which intrigued me.

In this interview with Matthew we discuss the the current troubles that are plaguing our planet, and the role that our male dominated society has played in many of the issues and challenges our world is faced with.  In “The Hidden Spirituality of Men” Matthew is awakening the worldviews for men by providing ten metaphors to awaken what he calls “the sacred masculine”.  He also includes models of sacred marriage, showing how partnerships with the feminine becomes the ultimate expression of masculinity.

I encourage my listeners to take a deep dive, and really understand the sacred masculine.  If we shift our worldviews and better understand how we behave and treat the planet, we can make a transformation for the better allowing us to awaken to living in harmony with mother earth.

Podcast 476: True North the Shocking Truth About “Yours, Mine and Ours” with Tom North

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Tom North the author of “True North-The Shocking Truth about “Yours, Mine and Ours” one of the eight North children, who together with ten Beardsley children, become the family which was featured in the 1968 film,  “Yours, Mine and Ours” starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda, and again in 2005 version starring Rene Russo and Dennis Quaid.

In my interview with Tom we get the opportunity to peer into the window of what truly went on in the blended Beardsley family.  As Tom explains it tremendous family dysfunction and child abuse.  ” It was not one big happy family as the movie depicted.  The stepfather’s violence and abuse created a life of intimidation, confusion and turmoil, fear and depression for the North children.   This abuse lead Tom to a life of drugs in his early years, but later turned himself around and now leads a happy life with his family.

Podcast 477: The Prayer Project with Paramahansa Jagadish

If you are interested in changing your world, then I would recommend reading ” The Prayer Project” by Paramahansa Jagadish.   I recently interviewed Jagadish who is an ambassador for the Prayer Project.  “The world is on the brink of change and we can no longer disregard our environment, or economy and our futures and simply assume that everything will work itself out.  The world is affected with selfishness, greed and disregard for life and we can be the change for good”

Paramahansa recommends prayer for three minutes, three times per day.  In just nine minutes if we have thousands of people practicing and praying we can change the global vibration to one of peace, hope and compassion.  I certainly believe that meditation, prayer and coming together in community is needed more now than ever before.  Paramahansa’ new book “The Prayer Project” has prayers from all religions so there is something for everyone.

Podcast 475: Living in Balance with Joel and Michelle Levey

It is my honor and a pleasure to have interviewed my meditation teachers Joel and Michelle Levey.  The have re-released their book “Living in Balance” which has been thoroughly updated and revised.  In our interview together we discuss the “tight rope” that we all walk on attempting to maintain a life of balance and harmony.  In our hectic world many reading this post can relate to the challenges of finding that mid-point where we establish a life filled with happiness, joy and bliss while still engaging in the world.

Joel and I discuss the concept of flow, how to reach it and maintain this optimal state of performance.  We have all been there, but it seems to be something that is fleading and difficult to reach and maintain.  Joel provide some simple techniques and practices that will assist the listener in staying in the flow.

Podcast 474: Paradise in Plain Sight with Karen Maezen Miller

I recently interviewed author and Zen Buddhist priest Karen Maezen Miller about her new book entitled “Paradise in Plain Sight“.

Karen and her husband purchased a home in the suburbs of Los Angeles called Sierra Madre, where an existing zen garden  had been planted for many years, but was in desperate need of nurturing and care.  Her book takes the reader on a journey of finding paradise right in your backyard a lesson that can’t be repeated enough.   The best lessons are that paradise is always right under our noses, and we don’t need to keep seeking, changing or wanting more.  This book isn’t really about Zen, and it is isn’t really about gardening writes Karen it is about the paradise we are all standing in right now.

Podcast 473: Constructive Wallowing with Tina Gilbertson

I had the pleasure of speaking with author Tina Gilberston about her new book entitled ” Constructive Wallowing“.   I know the title sounds a little like an oxymoron but believe me after you listen to this interview, I think you will change your mind about how positive “constructive wallowing” can be for your emotional and mental well being.

Society tells us to put on a happy face whenever we feel blue, and as Tina states we end of ignoring what’s true—and what is making us feel empty, lonely and stuck.  We are all aware that suppressing our feelings leads to numerous health issues such as tension headaches, anxiety, high blood pressure and so many others.  I encourage you to listen carefully to my interview with Tina, she really has some constructive advice and guidance about how to beat bad feelings by letting them go.
