I recently had the honor of interviewing Dr. Bernie Siegel again regarding one of his new books entitled ” No Endings, Only Beginnings: A Doctor’s Notes on Living, Loving and Learning Who You Are“. Bernie was last on Inside Personal Growth in November of 2011 speaking with us about his book “A Book of Miracles“.
Have you ever spend time contemplating the question: “who are you?”. When you think about the concept of “who you are” it invites all kinds of thoughts both spiritual and physical.
Bernie cites Epictetus in “No Endings, Only Beginnings” as saying ” that the only things he truly owned were his will and his purpose. He accepted that his imperfect body and difficult life circumstances were necessary to achieve his soul’s desire for growth.” They were perfect gifts from God. It was up to him to make the gifts meaningful.
Entering the physical body is like leaving your spiritual home and going to school, moving up through the grades, and helping your classmates until commencement day. Our job is to do our best with what we have, whether we live for 9 minutes or 90 years. The grace of God always accompanies us as we enter the body, for we are to expand that grace and pass it on to others through our love and endeavors, contributing and co-creating in our own mammer.
