Greg Voisen
Welcome back to Inside personal growth. This is Greg Voisen, the host of Inside Personal Growth and joining me, actually he's in Croatia right now, but he usually lives in and around near Zurich, Switzerland. Is Dr Justin Kennedy, and he's been on our show before, actually, and we'll make reference to the podcast, because he was speaking about his book on that. But Justin and I have stirred up a friendship here, and he is working with the neuroplasticity in he in is what is called neuroplasticians. And for all of you who are interested, I want to direct you to that website, because this morning, we're going to be talking about the, what we call his certificate, neuroplastician certificate, and how you can get involved in the program. It's npnhub.com and that'll get you there. And then you want to go to the neuroplastician certificate. You can actually look at membership. There's a free trial membership. Well, good day to you. Dr King, how are you doing?

Dr. Justin Kennedy
Greg, it's good to see you, my friend. Thank you for the last podcast. You really brain bumped up my sales of my book. So I'm interested to speak about next steps and what we've been doing at the Institute of organizational neuroscience and building the neuroplastician discipline, and how we growing so franitically, which has been exciting.

Greg Voisen
Well, you have trainings and you have so many people. You've done an online event that you recently just did with many of your members, which you said was just a crazy success. I apologize that it did not get to make that but again, the community keeps growing. Dr Kennedy keeps doing it. Tell us a little bit about this certification, or certification and some of your members that make up the organization. Because I think, for the people that are interested in this look, this word neuroplasticity, gets thrown around around a lot, and I think, you know, you and I talked about this, and nothing against it. But everybody from Joe Dispenza to, you know, who is talking about how our brains are wired and how they fire, but you're really working deeply in this.

Dr. Justin Kennedy
So explain a little bit about it. You know, with anything with a neuro on the front that sticks people who think Latin is a great way to sell your processes, you know, end up muddying the water. So, here is, here is the short story, Greg, so with the Institute of organizational neuroscience, we have a fellowship of a dozen, two dozen PhD candidates who are working on researching into applied neuroscience And what works to improve neuroplasticity, learning, neurodiversity, leadership, psychological safety and very many different topics. So one of the candidates said, you know, we're actually all in the game of improving our clients neuroplasticity and the lights went off. Someone said, Well, that makes us all neuroplasticians. Five months later, Greg, I kid you not, we've trademarked the word neuroplastician. We've launched the neuroplastician discipline. We have an advisory board of some of the most important people in the industry, like Paul Zach, Richard Boyatzis, Michael Platt, Marsha Reynolds, and the list just goes on. So, all the people from coaching and consulting and education who are taking the science of the brain and how we learn, ie neuroplasticity, seriously, we're seeing there's a huge opportunity to position the neuroplastician as a specialist coach who knows what neuroplasticity is and what it does, and how brains are influenced by behavior, and how behavior influences the brain. So we're having a great, lot of fun. We just had our first birthday, as I mentioned, and we've had. So many people like Amanda Blake and some of the other people that I mentioned, and Michael Stone and so many interesting people presented. So tell your audience that can go to npnhub.com and they can watch our first anniversary and all the fun we had. And as a result, the neuroplastician specialist coaching discipline is emerging, not as a training program. We're not trying to sell people the new training programs. We're offering it as an award that shows you have a certificate of expertise in the application of neuroscience. So we want you to come and show us what training you've had. We want you to come and tell us what expertise you have so that we can help you be awarded the neuroplastician certificate so that it shows you evidence of your ward, and we have different categories. And most importantly, out of all of this, Greg, we've just started a huge party where there's round tables and book clubs and brain bump coming soon, and panel interviews and experts sharing their stuff. And we've got different conversations going it is, it is so much fun. So the neuroplastician discipline from the institute fits in this category. But as you can see, there's a lot more fun going on for members in this community. So we're trying to benchmark or build a circle around what is good science so that people who are speaking about neuroscience are taking it seriously, and they are referring to neuroplasticity, not mirror this and mirror that, but with the other walls of serious science, we do have a lot of fun, and we do have a great community who are collaborating and learning and sharing in a peer environment. We've got no professors or princesses. We're all on the same level having fun with the science.

Greg Voisen
Well, you know, you originally were introduced to me by Elizabeth Gould, and I noticed a video there. Elizabeth wrote a book called feeling forward, and that's how you and I got together, and she was on the show quite a while ago. But you know, I think what the listeners would probably want to know is, okay, yeah, they can go to this website. You also have a YouTube channel that I noticed is there that people can go to. So if they want to listen to some of the interviews and things, they can go to YouTube. But what can they expect? In other words, if they're gonna put money down for a membership, what is obviously, it's a community. It's a community of support. How often do you guys meet? What do you do? What can people expect from their membership?

Dr. Justin Kennedy
So the first thing is, this is not a very good sales model. We are a self-funded, not for profit initiative, which is making a place where people who are serious about learning the science of neuroplasticity, but they want to do it in a in a safe place. So we made the first month pre, you can come and check it out. You can come and join the conversations. Every day. We're having a round table or a book club, or we're having panel interviews with Richard boyattis or Amanda Blake or, you know, there's so many serious scientists that are taking the work around being a neuroplastician, seriously, but you don't need to commit to becoming a neuroplastician specialized coach. You can just come hang out and join the conversation. It's a place for lonely brains. Greg, okay. Paul, okay. Want to know more about the science, but don't really know where to go. People

Greg Voisen
now, if they want to go deeper. What if they want to go deeper? You're offering the certification. So there is a way for them to say, Okay, I want to be certified by NPN. Explain a little bit about the certification, because there could be some listeners right now that are saying, hey, this would be a great thing for me to delve into real deeply, because I could, I can utilize this in my business, right? So what's the business model for it?

Dr. Justin Kennedy
My coach is so important that's important to distinguish the language. This is not a certification.

Greg Voisen
Everybody listening. What is this? It's not a certification.

Dr. Justin Kennedy
It is a certificate awarded based on two things, one, your current expertise, and two, your previous training. So we want you to step into the ring as someone who already knows what they know. We do have a lot of training. Products from external institutes and training providers available that we often share that information, but it's not what we do. We're a self funded, not for profit project there. Okay, there's an institute of organizational neuroscience that is governing the neuroplastician discipline by the names that I mentioned, but the NPN hub, npnhub.com is just the place to hang out, to meet fun people, to learn the science and not to get tricked by spin doctors or snail or snake oil merchants, okay to trick people into neuroscience. So it's a very clean environment, Greg, but it's also a very safe place and also a very fun place. So we're trying to do something different, Greg. We're trying to say, Okay, those of you love Latin, great, sit over here. Those of you who love the science, come join the party, because we want to engage with you. And it's working really well, because there's a hunger for people to know what the science is really saying and what can be done to apply practical tools. So this is not a place for academics, Greg.

Greg Voisen
This is a place for, well, that, that is the best part.

Dr. Justin Kennedy
This is a place for pracademics, non academics. So I

Greg Voisen
like that. And you know, I think that. I think look for my listeners right now, if you go to npnhub.com you're going to see, I'm looking at right now four videos that are posted. One is Elizabeth Gould in the left corner, Round Table lying and your brain. Another one is a gentleman. It doesn't say what his name is, but it says, Round Table brain glue, how selling becomes much easier by making

Dr. Justin Kennedy
Jake bond. His name is James Bond. But could you know? Okay, but the point

Greg Voisen
is, like you said, you're having fun with how this works and how it can apply. In his case, he's talking about selling becomes much easier when your ideas are sticky. And I think that's a really important factor, that you separate yourself, as you said, from the people that like Latin and are really into this you're talking about how the everyday person might be applying this and actually making use of it. And so if you would, that's an hour and one minute long talk that James Bond gave, right? And it is something that my listeners, if they join as membership for very nominal price. Here, they're going to be able to get access to this right? And you're putting these in here. How frequently are you actually doing these sessions with these NPN members?

Dr. Justin Kennedy
So, Greg, it's pretty much daily. There's, there's an event happening. So you're really spoiled for choice. That the price is free for the first month. It's a not for profit initiative that's self funded. After that, there is a $29 membership fee. If you come from a, you know, a struggling economy, we're happy to support you. So this really is a community model. We're having great conversations. It is really a place to belong. If you're interested in the science, Greg, when we're having fun with that, we you'll watch some of the the recordings when you get out. I know you're joining us as we speak, so it'll be great to have you speaking around brain bump soon. And we really want to make us an easy place to come and hang out. And we want to make it a serious place where you can become a certified neuroplastician specialist coach. So the word neuroplastician is now trademarked as a specific expert in applying neuroplasticity to do two things. One is to change behavior, and two is to sustain habits so that the brain becomes automated, like we drive a car or a bicycle, we get those habits to stick, and there's a lot of practitioners, as a lot of educators and institutes that are supporting us. So we're onto something, Greg, and being on your show is really helping us spread the word about what it means to be a neuroplastician. Well,

Greg Voisen
when you did this, this first anniversary celebration week, I'm looking at this. You had Sue Stevenson speak about the social neuroscience of community. You had another Dr Richard. How do you pronounce his name?

Dr. Justin Kennedy
He's a very leading scientist around the. Mean and coaching. So Richard Boyatzis is

Greg Voisen
very well, and Amanda Blake and Amanda Blake, who mentioned several times. So these are three videos that the point would be, is that these individuals and doctors were presenters at this event this first week, and you had quite a few during this, what you call one year anniversary celebration that you had. And I'm going to just encourage my listeners, you know, you can watch the replays, and you can do that for free. Go watch those replays, and then sign up for your free trial, and then sign up for your membership for this. Also, we're going to put a link to Justin's interview with me and his book. He's got a book that you can do reboot, is what it's called, and reboot

Dr. Justin Kennedy
by rates. I mean, it's five years old now, so it'll be nice to actually edit some of the science, because so much of this is happening so quickly. Greg, having experts around us is great, but we're not a community for professors or princesses. This is a place where we're all scrumming down together and learning deep in the weeds. We're not in libraries. We're not in laboratories. We are in the real world as practitioners, as coaches, who are taking the science seriously, but having fun while doing it. I don't think it has to be separate.

Greg Voisen
Well, the other thing I wanted to say is it looks like it's available on your iPhone or Android device. So is there an app as well that people can go up and get or is this? Is this just something that's coming off of your

Dr. Justin Kennedy
runs up an app. It runs off an app. It's really seamless. Just go to npnhub.com and just follow the follow the Follow the yellow brick road, and it really okay, see to get it done.

Greg Voisen
Okay, so you're united. You're uniting neuroplasticians, and that's what this is all about. And you're uniting people who have interest in this. And you're saying, hey, look, a certificate will be provided to you based on your knowledge and expertise. So tell our listeners as a if you would, kind of the broad range of people that might be applying coaches, or people that are out there in the field that are listening today, that are working with people every day, helping them become better at what they do by improving their way their brain fires and is wired right? And so suggest to us, if you would, some of the people that would be really, really a good fit to become part of your community.

Dr. Justin Kennedy
So the best fit are the people who are interested in taking the science seriously and have a very big funny bone, because we are all about enjoying each other. We've got a lot of interest in the science of humor, and Karen and Sue are interested in and, you know, leading that front. So maybe it's someone that's a consultant in neurodiversity. Maybe it's someone working in psychological safety or leadership, or maybe they're a coach who was trained in the neuroscience of coaching in some Institute. I mean, it doesn't really matter, Greg, we don't mind if you've just heard the word neuroplasticity for the first time today, we don't really mind if you're a professor who's been tenured around understanding neuroplasticity for the last many decades. We're interested in having a conversation, so our events are intentionally dialog based with experts, with each other, with authors, with practitioners. So the main community tends to gravitate around expert consultants and educators and coaches who want to dig into the brain, not literally. Of course, we're not, I'm in a laboratory environment. We're interested in seeing what are the brain hacks at work. Michael Platt from the University of Pennsylvania, at the Wharton Business School and the medical school is offering a program on brain hacks. So Michael work is really respected, so globally, as the you know, one of the best programs in neuroscience. So when we got people like Michael Platt and Paul Zak and Richard biyatis and I can keep name dropping, pretty much everybody who's interested in the application of tools that improve neuroplasticity via building. Heavier change and building new habits. And that's what we're doing. Oh yes, let me not forget, we're also launching a another app called neurostarter.com Okay, so that is going to be, it's going to be a free tool to neuroplasticians. So if you become a neuroplastician, you get access to this very cool new tool, which is called neurostarter.com and this is a tool to help you match neurotransmission with emotion and behavior change, so that you understand the mechanics of the mind, so that you can train the brain to change the mind, to heal the heart, whenever you want to start. So that's going to be lots of fun. We're launching that next month. So please go to neurostarter.com Please go to npnhub.com and join the revolution. Well,

Greg Voisen
I I think that, look, I'm just going to read a couple of comments the people that have joined, because I think it's always important people hear what others are saying, right? So here's one gentleman, Tom Thomas, a Duda, chief education officer and PhD candidate. He said, I had all the money and success, yet was seeking something deeper. Now I have found a way to expand my education by being a master neuropathician. I think that's great. And then you've got people like Dr Ken Parnell. He's a professor and head of education and neuroscience at CQ University. He says, I endorse the NPN hub, where the cutting edge approach to leveraging neuroscience research to optimize personal and organizational performance. So look, if somebody is listening today, and they are looking for a place to expand their consciousness, to expand their ability to get out there and use this tool with their clients, with their coaching clients, with their corporate clients. This is a place to to come and join and learn and then apply what you will learn on a on a real, practical basis. Dr Kennedy has created that. So go get their free trial. Sign up again. We'll put a link to this website. It's npnhub.com and what's the new one? The starter one. You said,

Dr. Justin Kennedy
neurostarter.com it's really important that you tell the listeners Greg that this is not a place for neuroscientists. What is this place? Not everybody. It's not, it's a lot. A lot of coaches say, Hey, I've learned about the brain, but I'm not a neuroscientist. And I say, Well, I'm not a plumber. How does that help anybody? And I say to them, but are you able to help your clients learn new skills, build that neuroplasticity, change their habits, and they say, Yes, I can. And they say, great, you're a neuroplastician. Let's start the revolution together. And being a neuroplastician is a serious discipline within the institute of organizational neuroscience, but Greg, we know that the brain gets a huge dopamine kick if it's fun. We know that the levels of enjoyment sustain so much higher if there's a social environment where you feel like you can belong where you feel like you want to enjoy and you feel like there's some cool kids that are also part of the community. So now that you've joined Greg, you're part of the team. Thanks so much

Greg Voisen
anyway. So for everybody out there who wants to get a dose of dopamine and oxytocin, and you want to get high, and you want to apply this to everybody in your direct to social environment. It's a place to go. So Dr Justin Kennedy, you basically have created a great thing here. I appreciate you being on inside personal growth, because the reality is, neuroplasticity is an inside job, and everybody knows that. And how you talk to yourself, how you speak to yourself, your subconscious mind, what's going on inside of there, and this is one way to make a connection and learn from some of the best. So as it says, Is it at his website, and we'll leave it at that is uniting with experts and learners in applied neuroscience, share shine and learn in a one of a kind, inclusive hub for professional exchange, intelligent dialog and continuous learning and applied neuroscience. It couldn't be said any better than that doctor.

Dr. Justin Kennedy
You said it better, Greg, you said it much better. You said, Look, you said neuroplasticity is an inside job. And if that's true, the neuroplasticians are the gangsters who get to hack the brain.

Greg Voisen
We get to do it all right? It's been a pleasure having you on Inside Personal Growth and talking to my audience again.
