Podcast 1121: Exploring the Healing Powers of Manuka Honey with David Noll, Founder of Pacific Resources International

We’re joined today by David Noll, the founder of Pacific Resources International (PRI), a company dedicated to bringing the unique benefits of Manuka honey from New Zealand to the United States. David’s journey with Manuka honey began during his 13 years in New Zealand, where he discovered the incredible properties of this natural product.

A Sweet Beginning

David’s adventure started not with a business plan, but with a love for surfing. New Zealand’s pristine beaches and surf-friendly waters lured him to stay longer than he initially planned. It was here that he first encountered Manuka honey, a dark, potent honey with a distinct taste and remarkable health benefits. What began as a local delicacy has now become a cornerstone of his business and a staple in health-conscious households worldwide.

Manuka Honey: Not Just Any Honey

Manuka honey stands out due to its unique properties, particularly its high levels of Methylglyoxal (MGO), which gives it powerful antibacterial qualities. Unlike other honeys, Manuka honey retains its potency even at body temperature, making it effective for both digestive health and wound treatment. PRI ensures the quality of its honey through rigorous testing, verified by independent labs, and transparency with consumers via QR codes on product jars.

Building Consumer Awareness

Introducing Manuka honey to the US market was no easy feat. Initially, consumers were skeptical, and awareness was low. David and his team tackled this challenge by educating retailers and consumers through seminars, blogs, and influencer collaborations. Their persistence paid off, and today, Manuka honey is a recognized health product available in major stores like Whole Foods, Sprouts, and on Amazon.

A Philosophy of Wellness

David’s dedication to wellness stems from his own childhood health struggles. Suffering from multiple allergies and asthma, he found relief through natural health remedies his father introduced. This personal history fuels his passion for promoting health through natural products. David’s commitment to quality and authenticity is evident in every jar of PRI Manuka honey, which remains unprocessed and rich in natural nutrients like pollen, propolis, and royal jelly.

Expanding the Product Line

Beyond honey, PRI offers a variety of products infused with Manuka honey, including skin creams and throat lozenges. These products leverage the honey’s therapeutic properties, providing consumers with natural solutions for various health concerns. David’s innovative approach has helped PRI to stand out in a crowded market, offering products that genuinely improve health and wellbeing.

Customer Stories and Testimonials

David shares numerous stories of how Manuka honey has positively impacted lives. From aiding digestive health to improving skin conditions, customers regularly report significant benefits from using PRI products. These testimonials reinforce the value of Manuka honey and motivate David and his team to continue their mission of promoting natural health.

Looking Forward

As PRI continues to grow, David remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and authenticity. By working closely with long-term beekeeping partners in New Zealand, PRI ensures that every jar of Manuka honey is as effective and pure as possible. For those new to Manuka honey, David recommends starting with a lower MGO level to experience its benefits and then adjusting as needed.

In summary, David Noll’s journey from a surf enthusiast to a pioneer of Manuka honey in the US is a testament to the power of natural products and the importance of dedication and education in building consumer trust.

For those interested in exploring the benefits of Manuka Honey, PRI offers a range of products available online and in stores, backed by a commitment to quality and transparency.

Welcome back to Inside Personal Growth! This is Greg Voisen, the host of Inside Personal Growth. And joining us from Carpinteria, California is David Noll. And David is the founder of a company called PRI - Pacific Resources International. David, good day to you! Thanks for being on Inside Personal Growth.

David Noll
Thanks, Greg for having me. It's always a blessing to talk about the benefits of manuka honey and of course it New Zealand all their products are great products. They're a breadbasket of the world. And manuka honey is just one of those ones that stands out in the breadbasket.

Greg Voisen
Well, and you started this very young and I'm gonna give my listeners a little bit of background about in a minute hold up one of the products hopefully we can get that so that it's in focus this is one I'm gonna hold up during the course of this interview more products because this the amount of products David has, but I met David's sales manager at the natural products West Expo and most of my listeners know I go there and I try and pick out not very many companies four to five that I want to profile on the podcast, because I'm enthusiastic about what they're doing, how they're doing it, and the actual health benefits of their product and the sustainability at which those products are actually manufactured and brought in his case into the US from New Zealand. And I'm going to tell him a bit Pacific resource International was founded by David is journey began a long time ago when you go to the website, you see a picture of him and some ragged shorts and a T shirt. And, and it was his love for manuka honey and his family. And then in the US after living in New Zealand for 10 years. Dave David, years 13 Okay, on your thing here it says 10 It says David knew the incredible benefits of the honey firsthand. His company became the first company to introduce manuka honey to the US now that's, that's a huge statement. Yeah, writing active test results to ensure quality. Today, PRI remains a family owned business in Carpinteria. And carrying on big as David's legacy is promoting healthy living. And I these products can be found in Whole Foods, sprouts, lessons, mothers, markets, moms, you can get them all over the place, but you can also get them at their website, and they'll ship them to you direct. And they've even got some really creative products, and I'm gonna hold up one for my audience. They've got these, like little great nuggets, and honeys and meant, so just go to the website and learn more about it. Because it really is phenomenal. Now, you know, you said

David Noll
if they want to mention your name, when they place their order, they get an extra 10% off.

Greg Voisen
Okay, we'll do that. So if you mentioned inside personal growth, or we'll have a link, and you can mention Greg voice and they'll give you 10% off of this. So that was nice of you to do. So can you share the story that inspired you to start Pacific resource.

David Noll
I lived in New Zealand for 13 years, mainly because I was a surf bum when I first arrived, and there were just beaches after beaches after beaches, with nobody on them and some of the surf was very incredible. We're probably one of our best days, when we were out just surfing our brains out a bunch of cows came down on a hot day and just sat in the water to cool off. And that was about the only people we saw on some of these beaches was excellent surf. So you know, I was traveling around the world a little bit. But when I got to New Zealand, it was so beautiful. And it was so many nice beaches. I just decided to say the people were great. And of course I met my wife there after a couple of years being in New Zealand so that was a big reason to stay on in New Zealand for so long. your

Greg Voisen
better half. Yeah. Her name is Jamie. Is that correct?

David Noll
No. My wife is Linda, Jamie's our youngest daughter. Okay.

Greg Voisen
Well, Jamie was the one who sent out the product. So, you know, you you faced all kinds of challenges when introducing manuka honey. And again it's it's now gotten to a point where you know it's carried in Costco people see it err, but they don't know much about it. And I've noticed, as I kind of walked through, because most of my listeners, I would assume a lot of them go to Costco. You don't see it jumping off the shelf, right? So yeah, I know you are a purist when it comes to this. And it was relatively an unknown product in the EU us. How did you help to bring up the visibility of this product and make it what it is today? Because you still are one of the frontier leaders in this? Yeah, it

David Noll
was a hard going. It's in some cases, it's still an uphill battle, because we're after probably 20 years now talking about manuka honey. It's taken off in a lot of places around the world much easier than in the US. And of course, you know, we got called all kinds of names in the beginning of making the claims that Dr. Peter Mullan, found in New Zealand, for its effectiveness against digestive issues and wound treatment. And so it was just you had to start the ground ground level, and just start talking about it, going around doing seminars, getting retailers together to educate them. Prior to manuka honey, we were doing all kinds of different types of men, the New Zealand honeybees, and the manuka honey actually was given to us for free originally considered to be a baker's honey. And so we they have so much of it, it was a dark color, and not as sweet as your clovers and some of the other monies that are out there. And so it was never very popular Monico until Dr. Peter Mullan started to discover some of its unique properties. And then that started on the road where it's got so many different varieties.

Greg Voisen
What are David some of those unique properties my listeners are going on? I know a lot of them probably are aware of some of these, but you know, you just I just want to show this to my listeners. Okay. And there's a reason why you see the little emblem that says m geo 300 Plus, yes, to 50 plots. So NGO 500 Plus, explain that and explain some of the, what we're going to call therapeutic medicinal values for utilizing this honey in your tea or in your baking or wherever you're going to use it.

David Noll
Right. Fortunately, when they first started setting there was very little known about except that Dr. Peter Mullan had had very good success with some of his digestive patients. So he dived in and started looking at componentry of manuka honey and found out the unique manuka factor, which he didn't know a name for yet, which is methyl glyoxal, which is NGO. And just recently, in the last two or three years now, the MPI government division in the US, New Zealand made mgL the standard for activity in Manuka Honey, there's a lot of people out there and this is where the skullduggery comes in. There's a lot of people that have different brandings they put different numbers. They don't always put an NGO number but that is the official, active ingredient network glyoxal. It makes it there are three or four other ones that combined with a metal box, although we don't want to. It's a long thing. What

Greg Voisen
is metal guy? What is methylglyoxal? Well simply put,

David Noll
it's a special ingredient that only manuka honey has to a great proportion that when you ingest it like when you ingest most raw honeys, your body temperature 98.6 will even out some of the properties that go in with a regular honey methylglyoxal doesn't get affected by that. So he can go into your system and help build your immune system and at the same time, take care of bad bugs like H Pylori, and stuff in your stomach and things. So that's the big thing is heat tolerant manuka honey. It doesn't have that. The other part of it is that it's very high and it's antibacterial activity. So it's good for a whole lot of things we get why

Greg Voisen
why is its viscosity so dense in comparison to a normal honey my honey, people out there need to know when you get when you get a bottle of this. Okay, it's actually you stick the spoon into it. You can't get it to go like this

David Noll
out right? Yeah, most most raw honeys will go like that we call it a creaming process, just to keep it from getting too hard. So we create Getting the honey to at low temperatures, sometimes in big drums for several weeks until it comes to that consistency. Because most of your clear runny honeys have been filtered, heated, and they're really just a sweetener, there's no benefit to them. Usually after they're just liquid height. And you oftentimes you'll see a liquid honey, it'll start to crystallize get hard rocks in it, because the sugars haven't been blended properly in the honey. So we cream all these honeys at very low temperatures. So that we retain all the pollen, all the propolis all the royal jelly, eat a little bit of beeswax. So you're not just getting a honey, you're getting a complete food all together. That's

Greg Voisen
really important for everybody to understand. Because, you know, all these other honeybees are almost like homogenized. It's almost like modernization process. where yours is a lot more natural, though. How do you ensure that the quality and the authenticity of this manuka honey that PRI imports that comes in from New Zealand is sustained? Do you have your own hives out there in New Zealand? Still? Are you relying on farmers who are growing all this organically and bringing it in? And then the second part of this question and keep it in mind is, you know, I've been told with Australia and New Zealand honeys, because I did pick up some Australian honey was a while I was there as well, that it's the only organic honey. Now, I didn't really know that. But can we make that claim because of how far the bees go and where they get it and what plants they get it from? So explain a little bit about that. Because I don't think too many people understand that. Well, the first thing,

David Noll
which is the hardest hurdle for most manuka producers is the testing process. You have to test every Georgia Tech, if you want to show your listeners, the lid of our jars there, you have to see that it's all sealed. Yeah, just there's a sticker on there has a QR code on the top. Yeah, yeah, that's it. We are the only company that puts a QR code on there that takes you directly to independent labs. And they can look up for that jar exactly how much NGO and all the other component tree Wow, Pacific, we test our product three times. Because this is where the skullduggery creeps in, people will often test one barrel, test one out of five barrels, and then just call it all the same, put a label on it. They did some testing some not because it expensive process to do the testing. It goes to an independent lab, they come back with the report. And we do that three times once when it's harvested once when it's bottle, and then the third time when it's exported to us. We have that report. And that's that's the only way you can really be assured. Six times seven times out of 10 most producers and labels out there you'll see will be pretty close to their label. But a lot of them aren't even anywhere close.

Greg Voisen
So do you actually does PRI have its own bees and hives and Honey Are you getting this from the bee harvesters in New Zealand.

David Noll
We're working with the same tree now for beekeeping families that we've been working with for the last 30 some years. In fact, we're on the second generation with some of them. Their family operated businesses, they take great pride in producing high quality products. And they've been around for generations. So they know all about beekeeping. we shy away from some of the industrial side of the manuka production, just because the temptation is there to blend and to mix. So we keep ours down to three or four and that's only because not all of them can supply everything that we need

Greg Voisen
and what regions what regions of New Zealand is it North Island South Island in Australia, what regions are you actually importing this honey from?

David Noll
Most of our stuff will either come from the Bay of Plenty or a place called I just slipped my mind for a minute. It's further south Hawke's Bay. Okay. It's another place that has great manuka production. You can have places in New Zealand that have manuka and the harvest is never any good because nobody knows. It could be soil conditions, rain conditions, but the Bay of Plenty Hawke's Bay, the Gisborne area and then the South Island, we get some from the South Island. Do you

Greg Voisen
get a from as far south as like queens, Queensland or no? Oh, no

David Noll
more, it would be more towards the west coast. Okay. Okay, Nelson over to the west coast because it gets to Queensland, the the environment gets drier and not as prolific with the Florin bottom.

Greg Voisen
I know Nelson well, so kind of that Christchurch Nelson area now this one says Australia on it. And so were in Australia, because Australia is a very big region. Yes,

David Noll
it is. And most of this comes from the east coast of Australia, where they have plenty of rain and their more tropical conditions. While on the East Coast, they're really good at what you have to remember about Australia is that they have at Manuka trees, different varieties, New Zealand only has one. And Australia also has the same one there. And that's the only one of those 80 varieties that actually produce this high quality manuka honey. And being

Greg Voisen
cute code on the outside really is the thing that people need to look for. And the other thing I wanted to ask you is, you know, you've been doing this a very long time, you've built up a nice business, how is consumer awareness or perception perception of manuka honey change since you first started PRI, because, you know, you said it was tough to get going. I don't believe it's as tough today because you have distribution in all these major markets sprouts and other market moms and all kinds of Whole Foods. But your distribution has really exploded, hasn't it? Oh,

David Noll
yeah. And then of course, you know, our good friend Amazon, because of tremendous the consumer has come miles from when they first saw most people didn't know what it was Howard. But the benefit of a nougat hiney is, is that it sells itself when people use it. And it's a good quality, it actually fixes the conditions that they're trying to address. And that's what's kept going for so long. These years, it just works. And people love that when something works, they bite over again, what's happened recently in the last five or six years, is that people have educated themselves. And they know a lot about the NGO level now, where before they would give them a nuke a honey, I will call it Brand X, Maya had a 16 plus or 12 Plus on it. They tried it no results. Because the people just put manuka honey on there sold it for a high price. And when you test there, honey very low mgL levels. And so people got disillusion for a while. And so the people started educating themselves on the internet, about manuka honey. Of course, we did again, we did seminars, you know, we did all kinds of stuff, blogs and had influencers to get the message out there about, you've got to have that NGO level. And now, you everybody's the same. We started out with a 60 NGO level many years ago. Yeah,

Greg Voisen
this one here says 50 Plus,

David Noll
yeah, that's a blend, right and right, that's a that's a good entry level honey for most people. The 60 Plus is the one we actually started with. And it seemed to take care of eight to 90% of our consumers. But then as they started growing the business and doing more testing, they found out that now we have all the way up mtos up to 1000. Now I'm not telling anybody go out and buy a 500 or 300 or 1000 mg a level honey, because you probably don't need it. And if you want to spend the money, okay, it's your money you spend it. These are for acute symptoms, like Mersa on the skin, some kind of types of cancer, very acute conditions of h pylori digestive problems, then you can get into those higher doses, but for the average person, you can start at 60 NGO or maybe 100 or top out at 200 NGO. Most people don't need the higher strikes, but I got tired of arguing with people. And so we carry everything. That's

Greg Voisen
very smart. Now talk with us about your you've gotten Wroclaw scissors, you have hand creams, okay, but you you've really expanded your product line quite a bit. Yeah. Unlike many other or manufacturers, they haven't done this. And I just want to do acknowledge you on the hand lotion, and how well that actually works. Yeah, yeah, it, I have some issues with skin because I'm fair complected and especially the back of my hands, right. And I've noticed that since I've been using your product, the skin is much smoother, I feels better. The other thing is the healing properties. I want to get into that, because you have a personal philosophy toward well influence our eyes toward wellness, that really influenced you doing this. And so I'd like to know a little bit about your personal philosophy on wellness, and why you chose to kind of go in all these other arenas with these products. Oh, well, I

David Noll
come from a very hard upbringing, I had 13 allergies when I was born. I had all kinds of I had asthma, all kinds of things that my dad turn to health food products at a very early age to try to save me from the antibiotics and all the other drugs that they were trying to pour down the probably in the five to 10 year age group, you know, I might, I was on the road to get thick, thick glasses, hearing aids, because of the antibiotic antibiotics. They were feeding me all the time, my dad decided there's got to be a better way. And so he started doing research started giving me rawmill Vitamin C 100% holy bread. So we got into health stuff very early age. So that and to be honest, that saved me. That saved me from maybe an early death, or even the glasses and the hearing aids, you know, at a very young age.

Greg Voisen
Did you Did you ever hear David, if you follow, you're about the same age, we're in the same age category. I think John Robins talk about Baskin Robbins in his dad, and his dad's health was going down the hill. And he didn't know why his son didn't want to inherit a billion dollar business, Baskin Robbins. And he said, I'm not gonna eat that lousy ice cream, whatever. And then his dad had diabetes, heart condition, whatever. His dad then went on the diet and the lifestyle that John was living. And he got 20 more years he went off all his diabetes medication, he went off all his heart medication, all from lifestyle change. I just story, very similar to what you've you've done with yourself?

David Noll
No, it's amazing when you feed the body what it needs repair itself. Yeah,

Greg Voisen
totally. So now shares, personal stories or customer feedback that might highlight the impact of manuka honey, on people's health. Your website is just a plethora of information you've got you've got people out there that have given testimonials. But if you would share a little bit of that, because I think it'll help my listeners better understand what people are using it for, and what's actually happening once they use it. Yeah, I think

David Noll
there's a lot of, excuse me, people that think it's a cure all. But basically what manuka honey does, it strengthens your immune system. So that you can fight off whatever it is digestive issues, cancers, skin treatment, you know, your your skin problems start in the stomach, you know, your skin is the biggest organ in your body. And so your stomach, if your digestive tract is off, your skin is going to be one of the first things to show you no problems. So it's very important. Digestion is nine tenths of the law. And so manuka honey has helped so many people, especially people in the Asian community that had poor diets and had to get their digestive tract sorted out. It's done wonders, the manuka honey for them. I think one thing that stands out to me as a lady that, I mean, I talk to people all day long. They have different conditions and stuff. But this is several years ago now. She called me she was having trouble with a cancer, very aggressive throat cancer. Nothing could touch it. They kept cutting out and cutting out and cutting out and they couldn't slow it down. couldn't stop it. And I said, Well, you know, if nothing else, try the manuka honey. See how it works? She's showed up at my warehouse. Maybe three years ago now Just did in tears crying and giving me thanks for turning her onto manuka honey because it had saved her life. Wow. People had no idea how to stop this. Now she's still battled with it. But she has slowed it way down to where it's manageable now, but and that was always manuka honey that did that. Now you can get those testimonials all day long. And the problem, again is, is that when you can help your body fight off things, it doesn't cure cancer, but it gives your body the ability to help with digestive issues, sinus issues, all kinds of that's when we make so many different products.

Greg Voisen
Well, it makes it makes the cells in the body much healthier. Yes, you know, the mitochondria, all the various things inside the body. Now you and your organization are aligned with save the bees and I think my listeners are gonna want to know about save the bees. On your website. People go there, they can click on this about the research the habitat restoration, beekeeping, the amount of money that's being raised and to save the bees supporters. Tell them a little bit about the Save the bee American honey, and the what this is all about because PRI is right up there with Mary's crackers and grizzlies in nature. Well, friends and all three sisters and all the partners in this, how'd you guys come about getting this going? Well that

David Noll
everybody probably knows that we can't live without bees, they pollinate. They, we wouldn't have fruit we wouldn't have we wouldn't have all kinds of things. We didn't have bees. And there were certain areas in the world because of various sprays that they used, or the deforestation of certain areas. The bees didn't have the flora and fauna to stay healthy. You gotta remember a bee is just like us. If we have to eat at McDonald's every day, we're not going to be very healthy. Right? And so the bee needs a variety of very diverse flowers and plants to take their bee pollen there be nectar from to be healthy. And so as we saw different areas in the US went through a big one about eight years ago, we were losing bees, they were dropping dead everywhere. Yeah, nobody could figure out where it was. And most of it was they just didn't have enough good food to eat. And so the save the bees does just that. It no way support, it's an international thing. So we try to we don't have much control over it. We pour in so much from every jar that comes in, so they can replant certain areas that they can teach beekeepers on how to keep their bees healthy. Because a lot of beekeepers over the winter months will feed them sugar water, and not save up enough to keep them fed over the winter and that weakens the bees. It also goes into what was a catastrophe in many areas for a while the varroa mite right. There was attacking bees and literally a lot of beekeepers had to burn their hives to get rid of the infestation, because the bees were too weak to fight off of mine, and they were just spreading like wildfire. So it's all those things combined to save the bees because without the bees we can't live. If they disappeared tomorrow or food sources would dry right up. We'd all be eaten beef jerky or something like that.

Greg Voisen
Well, thank God there's people like you out there that are doing what you're doing. And my listeners, you can go to the his website and link directly to the save the bees if you want to support it, and the good work they're doing. Yeah. And and the other thing is, where do you kind of see, you know, the future on the horizon for as you maybe do a succession plan within your business and your business carrying on with other family members and where is this all going in terms of you think the medical conditions the how studies are being done around manuka honey and the dietary uses? Because I think some, you know, studies that have been done that I've read are pretty compelling for the use of Yes, yeah.

David Noll
Yeah. It's it's been a big in probably the last four years, there's been a dramatic shift in the medical community regarding manuka honey. I have have doctors now that are prescribing manuka honey for their patients, which was unheard of before. You know, we did trials in the Mayo Clinic years ago, with bed sores and things like that. And they work and even the Mayo Clinic was very suspect, you know, because you can have a nice thing. But more and more doctors as they get educated in the minutiae realm, we knew that there's no for diabetic ulcers on the skin, you cannot heal them, there is nothing in medicine on the face of this earth that can stop them from getting bigger and worse, you can wrap them, you can clean them, you got to do it several times a day, sometimes, they just keep growing, because the diabetics don't have enough blood flow to heal up the wound. So they put manuka honey on these diabetic ulcers, and was seven, seven days or half the size. Wow, the days are almost gone. Now what the honey does is it it pushes water away from the wound, and enables no bacteria to stop the healing process. Because virtually what happens is you don't have enough blood supply to keep the bacteria at bay. So they just keep the wound open, and virtually eat you alive. But with the honey, you put that on, and it just starts closing up and close enough and close the gap until it's gone. They don't have anything else even comes close to that same with Mersa on the skin very aggressive cancer on the skin. The manuka honey gets supplied and it stops it dead in its tracks when it's uncertain, because if you look at it under a microscope, as the water is being pushed away, the bacteria can't survive anymore. The cells of the body are actually feeding on the honey to replicate themselves and pull themselves together. It's pretty unique process. But you know, it's not unique in the fact that as far back as the Egyptian days, you know, they didn't have a whole lot if you got to stab with a spear or shot with an arrow, your only hope was they were taking a handful of honey and just put it in the wound. And that was what either saved you. You know, and that's where a lot of this stuff came from the fact of manuka has, will speed up the healing process probably by about 10 times because of the cnngo levels. And

Greg Voisen
and while we were talking here, I went to the National Institute of Health, clinical significance of manuka and medical grade honey for antibiotic resistant infections, as review, written by Victoria Nolan, James Harrison, and John E. Right? If you want to do that, just Google it. And you're gonna come up with a recent paper that was written in 2020, where this hottie honey was studied, and it talks about all of the factors that we've just talked about, a little bit. So um, so how do you how does Pacific resource international ensure sustainable practices in sourcing the production of Manuka Honey, what is it that I mean, I know New Zealand, you when you think about it, everybody says, well, that's a sustainable country that says what they do. On the other hand, is there anything that your company is doing to ensure that these are all sustainable practices as we access this resource? Now,

David Noll
I think the keys of that question is the fact that beekeepers, whether they make money or not, they love working with bees. Before manuka was, came on the scene, these guys had beat up trucks could barely make a living doing honey, but they did it because they loved it. Manoukian made it affordable for them to actually raise a family and they did buy a new car and a house. But these people love working with these and I don't know where that affiliation comes from. But like I said, some of the families that we work with, we're on the third generation of people that have fallen in love with just working in bees and they love the outdoors. They live you keep the environment clean. They love with the bees do and how they pollinate the world. And also the great products. You're talking about a beehive that nobody produces honey, but you're talking about propolis, royal jelly, bee pollen, all those things have been in use long before it came out for cancers and immune building and all kinds of stuff. Just a little sidebar with the queen bee. She eats 300 times her weight a day. In eggs, she lay I'm sorry, she lays 300 times her weight in eggs every day. And the only thing that sustains her is royal jelly produced in the hive by the worker bees. And that's it's so full of nutrients. And so that's why it's hard to get these days because it's just not enough in every hive to mass produce it. Bee Pollen is a natural multivitamin that comes out of the beehive and Propolis is been used in cancer research as well. It's a natural antibiotic produced by the bees. And that's what we put it in our lozenges or throat sprays or cough elixirs. Along with the mineral Hi, if you give it a two punch thing, you get the propolis. And you get them in Africa, honey. So that's why a lot of our other products work so well, is the propolis and the manuka honey, and sometimes the the bee pollen, but I used to be born every day, I had a teaspoon every day, to keep my immune system up and use a propolis spray all the time when you feel a sore throat coming. This is excellent stuff. It stops in its tracks. And of course, we have the lip balm. Well, as well. So did

Greg Voisen
your so during the pandemic, did your sales actually rise as a result of everybody getting sick? Where did they know about it? And they were?

David Noll
It's kind of a conundrum there. Because over COVID Yes, sales were strong, but you would think that they would be a lot sharper going up. The problem was nobody was going anywhere. They were staying home. So they weren't sharing the normal flu bugs. And so we did see a little bit of a drop in some of our cough and cold stuff. Even though sales were so strong. Yeah. And it's funny, because after 18 months after everybody to say that the COVID thing was, you know, not that big of a deal. Everybody started sharing bugs, again, our business went way up at the end of pointing lot into 22.

Greg Voisen
Well, I want to let my listeners know that you couldn't get a better product and PR eyes in my estimation, this is my commercial for Pacific Resorts International. And for David, his company at the natural products. Expo was definitely a company I was very interested in. Also, when you look at the caloric intake if you're counting calories, manuka honey has less per tablespoon in other honeys. So you know, and when you look at everything else, because he puts on the puts on the side of the jar, the total carbohydrates. And when you start to compare all this, you can also see the benefits if you're measuring dietarily. What is your consume? So in wrapping up our our podcast here, David, what would you want to leave the listeners with? What should they look for when choosing manuka honey to ensure they're getting the best quality product? And what are some of the tips that you'd want to leave them as far as how they would use it, why they would use it and so on.

David Noll
I think the key component is looking at that NGO level. And if you've got one now and it's not our brand, and you're happy with it, ask them for a lab test. Because that's the proof in the pudding. If you have that lab test, you can see exactly what is in that that char that batch that they're giving to you because it's not so important when you're looking at the lower end of it like the 50 that you've held up earlier. That's a good blend. And you can use that every day and baking and your tea and coffee. And stuff like that. If you don't have any problems just want to have a healthy lifestyle

Greg Voisen
versus the 500. This is the 500 Yeah,

David Noll
the 500 is for unique conditions. And you should not worry if you've got a specific problem. You should probably take 123 teaspoons a day, preferably an empty stomach. A lot of people put in their coffee or their tea. It's not good to put any raw honey in any hot beverage because you lose some of the componentry of any raw honey when you put it into hot water. So if you're addressing a specific condition you should do best. My formula is six to eight ounces of water first thing in the morning, cleanse your system out. Then add a teaspoon of manuka honey of your choice to go in and round up anything that's going on in the stomach. When the bad guys are there, they get out of control. They go in and take care of all those bad guys that are trying to bring things to your body that you don't want. And then the third thing which is most important and digest and I don't sell it is probiotics. Right? You need probiotics probiotics from I, probably nine out of every 10 People need to have probiotics, whether you're six years old or 106 years old, you we have a society that we live in with stress, poor diet, and a lot of antibiotics. And all those three things combined to just wipe out to your probiotics. And so you need to do that the manuka honey, it's like a prebiotic, it goes in, it rounds up all the bad guys. But you need to plant the new probiotics. Because digestive issues are the source. Everything starts in the gut, there's a couple of books out there that talk about that. If your guts not in order, you're going to get things like diabetes, you're going to get things like eczema, you're going to get things like cancer, and stuff like that. You're just going to get all kinds of diseases, especially old age diseases. How many times have you heard people say this, you know, it was great until I got into my 30s You know, everything started falling apart? Well, that's because they've run out of their probiotics or probiotics or not digesting the food properly, and turning it into building materials for your overall health. You know, it's, it's funny to listen to people who would do that, because once we straighten out their gut, they start to feel better, they sort of even doctors that I've dealt with over the years. If they give you five milligrams of something, and it works for a while, and then it starts to stop, they give you can, and then they give you 15 And then he gives you 20 And then you get 20. The problem is, is it your probiotics are gone, they're not pushing it into your bloodstream like they used to. So I've told doctors give them the probiotics and watch the difference. Bam, they can take your mind back down to five milligrams, because it's getting into their system faster. So digestion is nine tenths of the law for a healthy living. And I don't know anybody these days, that doesn't get enough probiotics. I take 50 billion once a day, if you've had antibiotics, you take 50,000,000,003 times a day. And the 50 billion doesn't scare anybody because you're supposed to have 50 billion probiotics per square inch, your esophagus, your stomach and your intestines. And so you got miles of stuff to replant half the time. And that's what causes hiatal hernias, acid reflux, almost, I have a lot of people who take manuka honey and say my acid reflux is gone. I said, Well, what about the probiotics, because it's good for me, the acid reflux will be muted by the manuka honey, but it won't solve the problem, you have to replant your probiotics. Otherwise, wow.

Greg Voisen
And you're such an advocate for wellness and healthy living. And, you know, your your products are certainly the additive that many people need, that they probably not aware, and I hope my show reaches enough people and they take action, where you're gonna go to learn more about this is shop. PRI, that's shop pri.com. And he's got some bundles in there. You can get he's got skincare assault treatments bundles about us, there's a reward program as well. He's done a just a wonderful job with the website, including a little person that pops up, I don't know who that is in the corner. And she talks, she talks to you about the benefits of this as well. So I think can you ask her a question as well, if you have one, you can

David Noll
probably hear the answers, but you can ask her the question. Yeah,

Greg Voisen

You don't have to dilute this in tea although I have to say that's what I've been doing. You can just take a teaspoon of it with the water in the morning. I think that makes a lot more sense. So thank you for that. Thank you for that tip because I'm not certain that many people understand that so I

David Noll
don't want to put it on there. They want to put on their crackers or bread or they want to mix it with something but it under normal conditions if you just want to get stay healthy, that's okay. But if you have a system thing you're trying to address then take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Okay,

Greg Voisen

Very

Greg Voisen
