Christopher Phillips the author of Socrates Cafe is a man on a mission. He is attempting to help bring the Socrates philosophy back into our lives. He is the founder of the Socrates Cafe, and the author of Socrates Cafe and Six Questions of Socrates.
In my interview with Chris we discuss the lost art of the socratic method and the value it brings into our lives. He discuss the Socrates Cafe’s that are springing up throughout our country and around the world. Chris says that he does not facilitate the Cafe to teach others, he states that he facilitates the Cafe’s so others can teach him. He has event facilitated the Cafe in prisons with the intention of helping inmates to better understand one another and the world around them.
If you are interested in bringing critical thinking skills back into your life I would highly recommend reading the Six Questions of Socrates. In this book Chris asks six questions: What is virtue? What is courage? What is Justice? What is Piety? What is Moderation? What is Good? Socrates believed that seeking out the perspective of other on these six questions would help him become a better human being? Go ahead ask yourself these questions–what does it stimulate in your mind?
