Steve FarberI had the pleasure of being introduced to Steve Farber, the author of, “Greater than Yourself“, by a very good friend of mine by the name of Ron Schultz.  Steve and I had the opportunity to meet in person recently at the Innovation and Humanities Conference in Orange, CA and I was very impressed with his viewpoints on leadership.  Steve’s new book entitled, “Greater than Yourself“,  is truly a book about developing leaders with heart and soul.

In a not so distant era in time, the terms heart and soul were probably frowned upon using, and the word love was a definite no-no.  It is so refreshing to see that things are shifting, and that we are moving from the me to the we.  That collaboration, cooperation and sharing best practices are the actions by true thought leaders.

Steve’s whole premise in his easy to read book is about three simple, but powerful, ideas.

1) Expand Yourself – shift your perception from I to We, from Alone to Interdependent and from Me to We.

2) Give Yourself – commit  a specific percentage of your time that you’ll consistently offer to your “Greater Than Yourself” project.  What Steve means here is be willing to help someone succeed with all of your heart and soul.  Want for their personal success more than yours, and be willing to commit to helping them attain it.

3) Replicate Yourself – you’ll experience the power of expanding beyond your personal, one-to-one influence-the raw material for changing your organization for the better.

I am convenienced that if the leaders of this great nation of ours, from congress to our President, were to practice what Steve Farber articulates in this wonderful book and parable, that our nation would be a much better place to live.  That the current problems of our world would be solved much more easily, and with so much more cooperation.  I can only hope that they get a copy of Steve’s book, read it and practice the simple but extremely powerful “lead by example” principles.

I highly recommend this book, and encourage you to visit Steve’s website by clicking here for a wealth of content that is bound to shift your personal leadership style.  Enjoy this interview with a dynamic, engaging and wonderful leader himself Steve Farber.

Simon SinekI was introduced to Simon Sinek by Ariane de Bonvoisin, an author I interviewed in July 2009.  Simon’s new book entitled, “Start With Why-How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action,” is an intriguing book about the all important question we should all be asking ourselves before we do anything: “Why?”

Simon points out that some people and organizations are more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others. Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their successes over and over?  People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with, “why”? Their natural ability to start with “why” enabled them to inspire those around them to achieve remarkable things.

Simon studied the leaders who’ve had the greatest influence in the world and discovered that they all think, act and communicate in the exact same way–and it’s the complete opposite of what everyone else does.  Simon calls this powerful idea, “The Golden Circle”, and it provides a framework upon which organization can be built, movements can be lead, and people can be inspired.  And he states that it all starts with WHY.

Any organization can explain what it does; some can explain how they do it; but few can clearly articulate why. WHY is not money or profit–those are always results. Why does your organization exist? Why does it do the thing it does?  Why do customers really buy from one company or another? Why are people loyal to some leaders, but not others?

If you want to learn this and more I highly recommend that you read Simon’s new book and learn about his “Golden Circle” model.  Once you understand the Golden Circle you will understand the importance of WHY and how the best keep getting better–because they ask WHY.  You can also access Simon website with more information about his book, and other offerings.  Please click here to access his website.

John AssarafI know that many of us are looking for “The Answer“, and I am not certain if it exists or not but the message that John Assaraf has for you could just be what you are looking for.

His new book, “The Answer“, with co-author Murray Smith, is an intriguing look into the personal power of attraction as well as how to reprogram your unconscious brain.

The Answer combines decades of research from neuroscience and quantum physics with practical, hands-on business know-how to give you the confidence you need and the specific step-by-step actions to follow to build the business, and the life, of your dreams.

In my interview with John we explore the basic building blocks of what is required to rethink, relearn, and reprogram our brains so that we can manifest both the life we want, and the business that we desire.

John states that, everything you need to build your dream business, all the tools, resources, capital, people, ideas, expertise…… it all surrounds you today.  You just need to learn how to tap into that personal power.

Through new findings in neuroscience, scientists have discovered that we can override our own genetic codes.  If we learn how to gain access to the power of our brain, where our attitudes, beliefs, and established thought patterns are stored, we can create new neural pathways that can actually rewrite our genetic code.

Creating a clear business vision is the critical first step to your success.  If you are truly passionate and want to create enormous amounts of success for yourself, then you must have five key elements in place.

  1. You must find something that stirs your soul
  2. You must become excellent at it
  3. You must recondition your mind to believe you can have it and achieve it
  4. You must understand how to make money at it
  5. you must take daily action

Come explore with John Assaraf and myself  “The Answer”   to many of the challenges most entrepreneurs face upon starting, building and maintaining a successful business and personal life.

Maribeth KuzmeskiI thoroughly enjoyed my interview with Maribeth Kuzmeski.  She is one of the most knowledgeable authors that I know working with business marketing professionals to sharpen their connection skills.

You might be asking just what are connector skills, well it is that wisdom that you posses within to reach out at the right time and speak with someone who you think just might be able to help you jump start a project or a business idea.  Maribeth says to forget marketing tactics or business school best practices.  Those are handy, but its’ really people–and the relationships you build with them–that form the cornerstone of long-term success, sales growth and excellence.  Whether you’re a salesperson, an entrepreneur, or an executive, your ultimate job is to bring in clients and keep them.

Maribeth’s new book, “The Connectors“,  presents a five-step methodology that helps you to build the kind of high-quality relationships that lead to lifelong clients, repeat customers and endless referrals.

Inside her book you’ll learn how to:

  • Stop networking and start truly connecting
  • Create an avalanche of referrals and an army of happy customers
  • Become a “connector”, even if you’ve never been a “people person”
  • Find your social IQ–and improve it
  • Put relationship-building principles to work daily
  • Focus on others and reap the rewards yourself
  • Ask the right questions–and sell without selling
  • Differentiate yourself through the impact you have on others

These skills and more are revealed in “The Connectors“.  My interview with Maribeth also reveals many of the benefits of learning how to become a better connector.  I recommend that you listen, and learn from this master in her field.

David Daniels M.D.How many of you are aware of the Enneagram?  I  had been exposed to the concept some time ago, but never really understood the aspects of the Enneagram until my interview with Dr. David Daniels.  He is the expert on the Enneagram and how to utilize it as a tool both personally and professionally.

So just what is it, and how can you use it?  Dr. David Daniels new book entitled, “The Essential Enneagram“, is a wonderful tool that assists the reader in understanding the various personality types that make up the Enneagram.  Dr. Daniels takes the reader through a simple process of identifying  your type and the characteristics associated with your personality type.

The Enneagram is a powerful and dynamic personality system that describes nine distinct and fundamentally different patterns of thinking, feeling and acting.  “Ennea” is Greek for nine and “gram” means a figure or something written.  Each of the nine patterns is based on an explicit perceptual filter and associated driving emotional energy.  These patterns determine what individuals of each personality type pay attention to and how they direct their energy and behavior.

Discovering your Ennegram personal type can help you learn how to bring positive change into your life.  It can help change the way you relate to yourself and others as well as give you a greater understanding of the circumstances and issues facing you.  Moreover, it can give you powerful assistance in integrating the personal and spiritual aspects of your life.

If you would like to learn more about your personality and identifng aspects of your personality that are serving you and others that have the option of changing for the better, then I highly recommending reading Dr. David Daniels new book “The Essential Enneagram”.  It will provide you with useful information to improve your relationships at home and work.    More information about Dr. Daniels and the services that he offers can be obtained by clicking here to access his website.

Srikumar RaoI found my interview with Srikumar Rao to be fascinating.  Here is a man that has been teaching a course on Creativity and Personal Mastery at the University level.   Year after year his courses are filled with students that provide accolades for the professor and the material taught in his courses.

In the introduction of his book Dr. Rao asks you to wake up from your dreamworld and make a better life for yourself. His book and his course shows you how to take the action and create a life filled with success, happiness and fulfillment.

Dr. Rao states that the first block to personal mastery–and one of the biggest–is our unquestioned mental models.  He states that these are our fixed ideas of how the world works and how things should or shouldn’t be done.  We accept these models so completely that we live our lives according to them. From these fixed ideas we construct our own realities.  And some of us must admit that the realities we create are not so wonderful.

So just how does all of this happen?  It happens through our mental chatter.  You created your world unconsciously.  Your world was created by your constant companion.  So who is this constant companion?  It is the mental chatter that you are in dialogue with on a daily basis.  It is your voice of judgment that is telling you what is right, and what is wrong.   One of the secrets to a successful life is to be aware of this mental chatter, and to look for the patterns in our mind chatter.  Journal and attempt to replace the mental chatter with positive reinforcing messages.

Are You Ready to Succeed? is filled with wonderful exercises to help the reader overcome many of the challenges that one faces in becoming a true success.  The ideas and concepts are borrowed from the ageless wisdom, but we all need to be reminded of the ways to over come the mental challenges that get in our way of success.

I highly recommend this book, and Dr. Rao’s course.   If you would like to learn more about the course and to download the syllabus please click here to be directed to Dr. Rao’s website.  I know you are going to love this interview with a true master of in the art of creativity and personal mastery.

Paul Lemberg I have known Paul Lemberg for many years.  He is definitely an out-of-the-box thinker.  His concepts about how to market yourself and your business have always been cutting edge.  In my interview with Paul he will explain what he refers to as “Being Unreasonable.”

In Paul’s book Be Unreasonable – The Unconventional Way to Extraordinary Business Results, he states that it is about a liberation that comes from shaking off the shackles of normality and being Unreasonable in your demands on yourself and your work.   He says that extraordinary accomplishments begin with extraordinary actions.  Extraordinary in itself mean “extra” ordinary as in above the ordinary.  Being unreasonable means achieving the extraordinary by doing things beyond what people consider normal.

We have the opportunity in our interview together to discuss some of the 20 key points he makes about people who practice extraordinary action,
and the benefits they gain both personally and professionally.  In these unusual times Paul’s approach just might make sense for many of you seeking to improve your bottom line while at the same time grow your business.  He is a true master of marketing and sales and has some wonderful ideas.  I hope you enjoy our interview together, and I encourage you to visit his website by clicking here for more information about his teleclasses, books and coaching programs.

Larry Wilson It is certainly by no accident that one of the men who has influenced me the most is my first interview for our podcast and this blog. If you are not aware of Larry Wilson’s many accomplishments he is probably best known for having founded one of the largest learning organizations in this country, Wilson Learning Corp. I met Larry about 12 years ago after having read several of his books. I called him up at his ranch Pecos River in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I told him that I was starting a company called Sales Solutions Systems, and asked if he would be interested in meeting with me to discuss an opportunity that existed in the insurance industry. His answer was a resounding yes, and he welcomed me with open arms and heart when I met him at Pecos River some 12 years ago. Pecos River has since been sold, but what an incredible retreat facility it was, with ropes courses and beautiful scenery and some of the top training in leadership that this country had to offer at the time.

Since our meeting each of our lives have taken many twists and turns, but one constant is that Larry has always been there for me every step of the way to help guide me through the maze of business and personal growth.

In this podcast you will learn more about his current work “The Great Game of Life” and his book “Play to Win!: Choosing Growth Over Fear in Work and Life. Larry has recently developed a 12 session course that is one of the best personal growth courses I have ever reviewed. Later this year we will be bringing this program to our Digital Seed learning platform so that thousands of people can enjoy this work via the Internet and collaborate with others across the country in the process. This podcast is a wonderful insight into Larry Wilson the man and his own personal journey. I hope you enjoy it.

I apologize for the sound quality of my voice (Larry comes through much clearer). We are still getting the hang of recording phone conversations over here.
